Request Instruction
TALKS AND WORKSHOPS
We are excited to offer your class or group an instruction session or a presentation featuring materials from Thread Library. We offer both in-person and virtual instruction.
Please use this form to request instruction.
Instruction can include, but is not limited to:
- Handling sessions (1 hour):
- A display of Thread Library collection items curated for your group. Participants touch and discuss the threads.
- Presentations (1 hour):
- THREAD LECTURE - a dynamic slide lecture about thread as a technology, from prehistory to the space age. Expect to meet several Thread Library staff members, including our Curator, Cataloger, and Head of Digital Projects.
- Hands-on workshops (1-2 hours):
- Current curriculum includes:
- “Cloth as a Record: Mark-making on Fabric”
- “Thread & Computer History: Weaving with a Pin Loom”
- “Collecting as a Creative Practice: Handmade Books with Pockets”
